Glass

GLASS

As an essential element of a window, the glass represents aproximately 80 % of the window surface. Due to the glass , natural light gets into your home and creates a pleasant atmosphere for all the dwellers.

The insulating glass manufacturing process is the following: the two or three sheets of glass are cut according to the desired size and get assembled. A spacer rod is placed between them which seals this space filled with gas, by  the process of sealing.

The sheets of glass have different widths and properties . The standard width of a glass sheet is of 4mm and can reach up to 12 mm . The glass packages can have different widths ( 20 mm , 24mm , 28mm , 36mm , 40mm , 52mm ) which influence the heat transfer coefficient but also different configurations of 2 or 3 sheets .

Benefits of glazing:
Thermal insulation – protects the interior from cold
Sun Protection – protects your home from ultraviolet rays and eliminates overheating
Sound insulation – protects your home from outside noise
Safety and security – to reduce the risk of accidental injury and the risk of theft and vandalism
Transparency – ensures the passage of light between the exterior and the interior.

Laminated glass – consists of two or more sheets of glass assembled with one or more layers of PVB (polyvinyl butyral) film. If the glass breaks, the PVB film or films keep the glass fragments.

Depending on the thickness or number of glass sheets and the number of PVB films, we can have the following benefits: protection against injury, protection against falling, protection against vandalism and burglary, protection against armed attacks (bulletproof glass) , Noise protection.

Secure or hardened glass, as it is said, is produced by heating the glass to a temperature of approximately 650 degrees Celsius, where it begins to soften. The external surfaces are then rapidly cooled, creating a strong compression. The heating process followed by the cooling is electronically controlled, and the parameters by which this process is performed influence the quality of the secure glass.
Its mechanical bending strength is typically four to five times higher than that of normal glass and is therefore used in applications where it is necessary to mechanically tighten the various metal parts on the glass. If broken, it fractures in very small, harmless shards, thus ensuring the safety and safety of people who can come into contact with the bottle.

Secure glass is mandatory in areas where the glazed facade has to deal with a high thermal stress such as situations where a higher absorption glass is used on the southern face of the building or in the vicinity of internal heat sources Radiators, heating systems).

Low-E glass – low emissivity. It is a clear, transparent bottle on which a microscopic film thickness of a metal oxide is applied. This film allows the passage of light, but blocks the heat from the glass, thus reducing the loss of heat.

Evo glass 4s – is a special bottle that offers superior solar control and very good sound insulation.

The advantages of this glazing are that during the summer, even in cold days, it keeps an ideal temperature in the house, and during the winter it records a decrease in heat loss, which means you will pay less for heating .

WARM-EDGE TECHNOLOGY

Heat loss in the cold season or overheating during the summer has an important role in determining the energy performance of a home, but also in terms of achieving the necessary comfort.

Reducing heating / cooling costs is for us, the window manufacturers, who are trying to produce windows with the most efficient thermal insulation properties, that is, the lowest thermal transmittance (Uw) values, a very important factor. The new generation of hot-end spacers, used in the production of thermo-insulating glass, plays an important role in achieving this goal.

The warm edge spacers are made of thermoplastic materials that are perimetrically mounted between the glass sheets of the double or triple thermal windows and have a linear thermal conductivity much lower than the conventional aluminum spacers, thus contributing decisively to improving thermal performance Of the windows by reducing the thermal bridges formed perimeter at the edges of the insulating glass. Their use significantly reduces cooling of window edges in the cold season or overheating during the hot season.

Among the advantages offered by the warm-edge spacers over conventional aluminum spacers we list:

-realizing the economy with energy both during winter and summer;
– reducing the condensation to the inner surface of the glass (in the dwelling) or even eliminating it;
– Positive effects on the global warming phenomenon due to the reduction of the consumed energy and implicitly of the carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere;
-conditioning comfort inside the home.

SGG PLANISTAR SUN

DESCRIPTION

In the current context, rising energy tariffs, environmental issues and the need for comfort emphasize the importance of energy efficiency of buildings. Thus, reducing energy consumption becomes a necessity that should not interfere with the desired comfort inside the building.

In warm climates or south and west directions of the windows, SGG PLANISTAR SUN is the optimal solution for achieving high energy efficiency by reducing summer overheating while providing increased thermal insulation during winter and providing a contribution Generous natural light in any season.

SGG PLANISTAR SUN is a dual-deposited glass: low emissivity (reflects infrared radiation with high wavelength) and solar control (reflects much of the solar energy).

This is a clear glass type on which a transparent transparent layer consisting of metallic material is deposited by the vacuum cathode spraying process.

BENEFITS

Thermal insulation. SGG PLANISTAR SUN is a low-emissivity glass, allowing it to achieve an increased thermal insulation in double glazing: Ug * = 1.0 W / (m2.K)

Solar Control. SGG PLANISTAR SUN allows the installation of large windows, limiting the overheating of the indoor space due to the low solar factor (g = 0.38), 62% of the solar energy being blocked outdoors.

Visual comfort. Limiting solar energy passage allows for reduced use of exterior or interior shading systems. At the same time, the high light transmission (TL = 72%) and optimized selectivity close to 1.9 promotes SGG PLANISTAR SUN in the high performance product category.

Energy savings. Optimizing energy consumption throughout the year by reducing the cost of cooling, heating and lighting.
